*Author’s Note: The following excerpts in our “Life Stories” are from the Celebration of Life service for Blair Eugene Lindquist for you to read, reflect, and pay your respects privately. It was an honor for me to learn about Blair and help capture his story for his dear family and friends. He will be dearly missed by many.

When God called Blair home, he was ready to follow. He is at peace now in the loving embrace of our Lord in heaven. His journey is complete. He is reunited with his parents, Ted and JoAnne. He is surrounded by love.

Blair was born in Kenosha on October 1st, 1962. He graduated from Tremper High School and Gateway Technical College, with degrees in Electromechanical Technician and Welding. He was proudly employed by Abbot/Abbvie for almost 35 years and traveled to Europe many times under their employment. Blair lost his dad when he was young and had to grow up fast. He had a strong work ethic and kept his priorities straight. He was a good role model for his brothers, Lewis and Jon.
Blair met Jane on a blind date. Jane’s friend apologized to her that Blair was so quiet, but Jane didn’t mind. In fact, she thought he was endearing, and while he didn’t talk much, when he did speak it was worth it. Blair and Jane united in marriage in 2001 and together raised three children, Erika, Maxwell, and Ava.
Blair was kind, peaceful, and dedicated to his family. He not only loved his kids, he lived for his kids. He did everything he could to make sure his kids were taken care of.
Blair had many interests. He was a scuba diver. He loved to travel and go hiking. Favorite trips with the family were to South Dakota and Yellowstone. Daughter Erika lives in South Carolina, and Blair and the family enjoyed many trips to the Savannah/Hilton Head area to be together. Going to Wisconsin Dells and up north were always great fun. Blair enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Wisconsin Sportsman Association. For several years he was a Boy Scout leader for BSA Troop 505. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school. He had such wonderful patience with all the children.
Blair will be remembered by many for the quiet impact he had on people. A man of few words, he earned respect and made friends with his calm presence and sincerity. At the end, his nurses confessed that they aren’t supposed to have favorite patients, but that Blair was their favorite. Despite pain and struggles, Blair persevered with grace and dignity and love.
In his own quiet and frugal style, Blair probably wouldn’t have much to say about today except, “How much is this gonna cost?” But he would absolutely want each of you to know how much he loved and appreciated you and how special you were to his life.

The important things in love and life are rarely the grand gestures, they are the culmination of everyday, mundane happenings. Family dinners, phone calls, good mornings, and good nights. And all of a sudden 61 years of a beautiful life flew by. Embrace and share with others the qualities of Blair that you love and miss so much so that his legacy may live on. Travel. Go for a hike. Turn on some Jimmy Buffett. Talk a little less. Show kindness a little more.

Isaiah 55:6, 7 Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and He will have mercy on them, and to our God, for He will freely pardon.

Blair Lindquist will be forever missed by his dear wife Jane, his children Erika, Maxwell, and Ava, his granddaughter Lily, his brothers Lewis and Jon and all their families, other dear family members, and many cherished friends. Hopefully Blair is saving some seats for his loved ones at the Jimmy Buffett heavenly tour.
Blair, may you rest in eternal peace knowing you are dearly loved.
