Perez-Vargas Wedding

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you with love: Mr. and Mrs. Vargas!

Friends and family gathered at Circa on Seventh to celebrate Christian and Corinna’s love story. Surrounded by loved ones, the couple united in marriage and enjoyed a beautiful evening of joyous celebration. It was such an honor to get to know the bride and groom and to officiate their wedding ceremony. It was extra special that a couple I married years ago was in the bridal party!

Enjoy a few excerpts from this lovely ceremony below.

Today, along with their children, Luis, Mateo, and Camila, Christian and Corinna are choosing to unite as one family and embark on the adventure of marriage together.

Christian and Corinna are now going to take some symbolic action and be united as one with a unity rosary ceremony. I invite Christian’s sister and her husband, Cindy and Pedro Rodriguez, up here to perform the unity ceremony.

Christian and Corinna have chosen to incorporate the lasso ritual into their wedding ceremony today. The lasso is a wedding ritual in which the couple are bound together with a ceremonial rosary. Lassoing is a declaration of intent, where the bride and groom clearly state that they are marrying of their own free will.

Christian and Corinna, at some point you will remove this physical rosary that binds you, but may you always cherish and respect the spiritual bond this represents and be forever united.

Vows

(Christian) Corinna, I take you as you are, loving who you are now and who you are yet to become.

I promise to appreciate you, to grow with you, and to be supportive of you.

I will cherish you always.

I will love you and have faith in your love for me,

through all our years together and all that life may bring us.

Christian and Corinna, you are about to say, ‘I do.’

The question is asked: “Is there anything more beautiful in life than a young couple clasping hands and pure hearts in the path of marriage? Can there be anything more beautiful than young love?”

And the answer is given: “Yes, there is a more beautiful thing.”

“It is the spectacle of an old man and an old woman finishing their journey together on that path. Their hands are gnarled but still clasped; their faces are seamed but still radiant; their hearts are physically bowed and tired but still strong with love and devotion. Yes, there is a more beautiful thing than young love. Old love.” -The Beauty of Love, by Anon

With all this in mind and the adventure to old love your heart’s goal,

Do you, Christian Vargas, take Corinna Rose Perez to be your lawfully wedded wife from this day forward, until death parts you?

I do.

I do.

Christian and Corinna, may your marriage be modern enough to survive and thrive through the ever-changing years and old-fashioned enough to last forever.

To Christian and Corinna and a lifetime of love! Salud!
